How long does it take to get from Rome to Venice by train? We would also like to visit Florence. Should we go there first or on the way back to Rome?

If you intend to get out in Florence you will need to book tickets from Rome to Florence and then from Florence to Venice. If you book straight through to Venice from Rome you will not be able to get off. The ticket is for a specific train at a specific time and with a specific seat.
