48 Hours in Milan

My husband and I are going to be in Milan for 2 days as part of our much-too-short European vacation. Is this realistic for a two day plan? Is there something we are missing?

I could also use a good suggestion for a nice dinner because my husband's birthday will happen while we are there.

  • See the Last Supper (tickets purchased)
  • See the Duomo
  • Visit Expo 2015

Do include a visit to the roof of the duomo. Also the Brera and Ambrosian galleries have wonderful collections, and there are some lovely early churches. Also, there's the Sforza castle. You might want to check if any of these are of interest to you.

While it is not an expensive place it was definitely quirky and some of the best caprese salad I have ever had. Called the Busy Bee Café... it was recommended by our hotel and we ate there 2 nites in a row, it was so good.

Edit... didn't notice, Hi to another Michigan traveler!

As Sherry says the roof of the Duomo is a great experience. Watch the Tilda Swinton movie "I Am Love" to get a good Milanese feel of money, power, fashion, food and drama. The little church of Santa Maria Presso di San Satiro is worth a look for its trompe l'oeil painting.
