First time traveling to Italy. What is the best airport in Rome: ROM or FCO?
Will be staying in the city for a day or two then out of there by train

ROM is the airport code for all Rome airports. It is virtually impossible to fly from the US to anywhere but FCO. It's about a 40 minute cab ride from FCO to downtown Rome or a slightly longer train ride to the central train station (see Rick's Italy book for details).
The other airport in Rome is CIA (Ciampino) which is serviced mostly by the inter european airlines (Ryan, Easy Jet, etc)....it is a little closer to the city but the big airport (FCO) seems to have more transport options. We flew into FCO (from the US) and out of CIA (continuing on to Venice) and found both airport easy to connect to from the city center. Which ever airport option is cheaper, is the one I would pick.
There is a easy cheap bus connection from CIA to the Termini train station.
