First time to Italy,need some helpful safety ideas on shipping items back to the US from the shops,like from Murano.

Most places on Murano will handle shipping the item back home for you. For a fee of course.

Depending on the size of the item...we bought glass from La Murrina in Murano...and packed it in between our clothes. Much cheaper than shipping...and you won't need to wait 6-8 weeks!!! I bought some ceramic dishes in Deruta..and it took 3 months for them to arrive! It was also our first trip..and we had to purchase another suitcase just to get everything back home. That included wine, oil oil, glass, shoes and clothes! You just can't leave Italy without buying shoes or boots! Have a great trip.

If it is big or breakable, from Italy I pay the extra to have the merchant ship items back.
In some countries I feel comfortable navigating the post office myself, but Italy is not one of those places.
