My hubby and I are planning on going to Rome in the beginning of February. What's the average weather like? Rain, temperature, etc.
Ashley,i hate to be the one with the bad news, but you can count on the cold weather.I've been in Bari in February, and saw 8 inches of snow and Bari is way south of Rome.As far as the rain, you can not predict that,it's on and off like everywhere.Hope for the best and pack heavy.I will be over there myself for the holidays and trying to unearth the winter clothes from the attic(i live in Florida)is quite a challenge.Good luck.
Hi,
Well temperatures would be nice to know. My hubby and I are more partial to colder weather. He hates hot weather, and you live in Florida, so we probably have different likes. I have some family that lives in Florida and they were saying a few weeks ago that the 60 degree weather they were having was "soo cold'. Well to me that is perfect (that's long sleeves, pants, sometimes a light jacket weather) He is coming home from Iraq and wanting some cold weather...lol. He said snow would be nice too, since he has missed it all winter. But i just wanted to know average temps and the usual precipitation.
Thanks so much
Ashley
Ashley, according to weather.com, the average high for Feb in Rome is 56 degrees and the average low is 37 degrees. Only 4 months are rainier than Feb. (average 3 inches of rain). That being said, we generally travel to Rome in October which averages 4.2 inches of rain and it only rained once each time we were there.
See the FAQ's on this board for specific information.
Try the weather underground (wunderground.com, I think) and use the trip planner option. You put in dates (2 weeks max) and city, you will get historical data (highs, lows, humidity, precipitation, etc) for the last 10-12 years. Then you will see that it is just unpredictable - I check since I will be in Rome around then too.
Also as a point of reference Rome further north than Omaha -- about as far north as Madison, Wis or the Iowa/Minn border. Gives you an idea of the amount of sun light. Now Rome, because of the Med, will be somewhat warmer than Iowa/Neb in February but short days and long nights.
