We're looking to spend 4 weeks in Sicily during our sabbatical. We'd like to split our time between staying in two different places (east and west Sicily) and explore the island during day trips. We've already been to Palermo and Cefalu so would like to explore other areas. We would like to spend some time on the beach as well. We'll be there in July/August.

Trapani, Marsala, San Vito lo Capo for beaches, Castellamare del Golfo in the west. Syracusa, Catania, Taormina in the east.

How wonderful to spend four weeks in Sicily. We are going in September for eight days. We are basing ourselves on the east coast (Taormina) and from there will do day trips. However, with four weeks you should be able to do both east and west coast. If you would like some more detailed info about Sicily, go to the TripAdvisor Sicily forum and ask any questions you may have. There are several "destination experts"
and they give great advice about the island.
