We have 4 nights in Rome. What area do you recommend? We are leisurely travelers and like to stroll
The Trastevere neighborhood.
On recent trips I've enjoyed staying just north of Piazza Navona and in Trastevere. Both charming and walkable to many sights. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe in these neighborhoods.
We stayed near the Spanish Steps and liked the area. It was still walkable to many of the big tourist sites, but near Villa Borghese and not far from Castel Sant’Angelo and the river. It was also near a Metro that made it easy to hop to Termini when needed.
I would agree that staying near Spanish steps is normally a great area to stay but i think the nearby metro (Spagna) is currently closed - until September. You should check if this is important to you.
