4 nights in Tuscany Region

We have 4 nights in Tuscany region and want to see it all, especially the most charming, small towns that shouldn't be missed. Would love help in mapping out a lesiurely paced itinerary which includes any festivals, farmers markets and quaint village squares. We are into getting a peek at everyday life in these towns vs museums.

Thanks in advance for your help

We are staying either at the Belvedere San Leonino in Chianti or the Hotel Residence in San Sano. Has anyone had any experience in either of these 2 hotels?

We haven't stayed in Chianti, but have spent a day driving through the area. We would suggest these towns to visit: San Gimignano, Volterra, Montalcino, Pienza,Montepulciano, Cortona. San Gimignano is filled with tour buses during the middle of the day, so we try to visit early in the day or come around 4 pm when the buses are leaving. There's time to explore and then go to our favorite trattoria, La Mangiatoia.

Hi, we were staying in Firenza, but had a fabulous tour and luncheon at the Verrazzano Winery in Greve in Chianti. Definitely do the lunch/wine tasting!

Thank you for taking the time to post your suggestions. We are still working out our itinerary and want to be careful not to overbook the days. We would hate to miss out on the charm and quiet beauty of this area by trying to keep up with a hectic schedule.

Try around Greve - it is in the heart of Chianti halfway between Florence and Siena - tons of great hotels, villas and agriturismos all around. Great wineries and restaurants too.
