4 night Dolomites ideas

Hello, my family of 4 (kids ages 10 and 12) will be ending a 2 week road trip by car through Bavaria (Salzkammergut and Garmisch-Partenkirken) with 4 nights in Ortisei June 3-7. We have lodging within 5 minutes walk of the Seceda funicular and the Alpe di Siusi cable cars. Our family is pretty active and love nature and scenery. I do want this leg of the trip to be just a tad more relaxed and "winding down" But I also want to take advantage of the beauty of the Dolomites! I know it's early in the season so hopefully most cable cars and trails are open.

Day 1---Alpe di Siusi cable car and rent E-Bikes for leisurely hutte trail
Day 2--Slow drive on Gardena Pass to Corvara and back. Evening stroll to St. Jakob's church for picnic
Day 3--Seceda cable car for Rifugio Firenze loop trail...stopping for slow breaks and good food/drinks

Good way to spend our first time in this area with the limited time we have? Suggestions? Thanks!

We bought a 3 day pass and went on all the lifts in Ortesei and some others.

We took the Col Raiser cable car in Christina and then walked to Seceda. A couple of woman we kept running into (and had lunch with) did the same and basically plotted their day around all the Refugios and lifts. There are some ski lifts in the area that are included with a pass. Also Seceda gets crowded so they also made a separate first thing in the morning visit for pictures. We managed to get great pictures but it probably would have been easier that way.

We also went on Forcella Sasolungo which is a coffin like cable car that your kids I am sure would get a charge out of. It was included on the three day pass.

as your trip gets closer take a look at https://www.valgardena.it/en/summer-holidays-dolomites/val-gardena-active/ for guided activities. They are free with the Val Gardena card which most accommodations in Ortisei will give you

They are a bit pricy but we found the pass mentioned in the earlier post to be worth it. We could go up from Ortisei in the morning, then in late afternoon take a different lift up to the top just to have a drink and enjoy the view.

There are many recent posts regarding Ortisei and the lifts if you do a forum search. Important to know about Seceda, you’ll need a timed ticket this year. I understand there will be walk-ups available, but it’s good to be aware.

Thank you all for your responses! I could be wrong but I THINK the 3 day Gardena card goes into effect on June 7, which is when we leave so I believe we'll need to settle for single tickets. Looks like for Seceda I'll need to pick an early AM and book it online early. I do like the Col Raiser car idea as it seems less crowded from that spot, but we are walkable to the Funivie Seceda in Ortisei so we'll probably just use that for convenience. If anyone has hiked in that area, do you think the Rifugio Firenzie 5.5 mi loop trail is good for first timers with kids? Our kids are active and used to hiking and we'd like to spread out from the crowds but also have some good food/drink breaks. Open to any suggestions up there (as well as Alpe di Siusi...although I'm pretty excited about the e-bike plan up there!)

We are walkable to either Sport Gardena or Bamby so probably one of those and bring them up the cable car…certainly open to suggestions though!

Following along with interest! We will be there for a few days but will not have a car.

I as well am following with interest as we are doing a very simular trip. Thank you for posting as it has helped solve some of my confusion. One question if I may, do they allow e-bikes up the Secada lifts so you can ride the trails up there like you can at Alpe di Siusi?

Bob I only looked at Alpe di Siusi since it looked flatter, easier and more wide open for my kids. I'm sure there are biking opportunities at Seceda but in my opinion that looked more like a "hike and wander in awe" spot to me! Others that have been can speak to that.
