We are adding a few days in Sorrento to our Italy trip. We are a family of 5 (kids will be 13, 16, 18). I'm having trouble deciding on lodging. I'm considering Agriturisomo II Convento. I'm open to geeting 2 hotel rooms or stay at a B&B (within reason regarding price). We don't plan on renting a car so I'm not sure where we need to stay for easy access to get around. We want to take a day trip to Capri, day trip to Pompeii, hike The Path of Gods and a little beach time (we have great beaches close by at home so not a huge priority). Any insight or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Transportation is easiest from in town. There are a lot of places with beautiful views outside of town. You can take the train to Pompey and the ferry to Capri. We did the Path of the Gods but not from Sorrento.

Skip Path of the Gods. Getting there and back takes time and can be complicated. From Sorrento, it would very tough to fit in. And honestly, I did not think it was worth the effort.

I don't think you'll want to book that one if you don't have a car: it's quite some distance from Sorrento and from convenient transport for some of your day trips (ferries to Capri; train to Pompeii). If you plan on day-tripping via public transport, you'll want to stay IN Sorrento. It's not good for beach activity but that's pretty standard for the Sorrentine/Amalfi Coast, Positano aside, maybe. You might look at an accommodation with a pool?
You could look at Salerno as well but it's a really long ferry ride from there to Capri - over 2 hours - and they have far fewer runs from there than from Sorrento (ferries take only 20-30 minutes). Train to Pompeii will be really cheap and takes only 30 minutes or so.

I would not recommend the hotel you mentioned. Too far from Sorrento. I personally recommend Hotel Regina https://www.hotelreginasorrento.com/. Reasonable rates, overlooks the bay, 5 minute walk to the central city, fantastic free breakfast and courteous staff. Search this site for the recommended corner rooms that have two balconies facing the bay and the mountains.
