Hello,
We will be in Rome on Sunday - Thursday total 4 full days in last week of may. I have booked Vatican, colosseum, forum, ballistics tour on Wednesday and Thursday.
I want ideas on what can I do on Sunday and Monday ? I’ll stay in Rome all 4 days. I don’t drink so wine tours won’t be needed. Is day trip to Pompeii and mount Vesuvius trip worth from Rome ? Anything must do in Rome? Plz advise. Thank you. And on Sundays I see all tours closed.
A day trip to Pompeii and / or Vesuvius can be done. However, it will be a long, long day. On the other hand, you might consider a trip to Ostia Antica. Easy to get there using public transit, not nearly as crowded as Pompeii, and with an early start you'll be back in Rome by mid-afternoon. Do a Google search and see what you think.
Way too many things to do to mention. You need to google the sites and activities in Rome and see what you want to do. I like Ostia Antica, Villa Borghese, Peter in Chains (awesome Moses statue by Michelangelo), Via Appia Antica.... so many things.... check out what interests you. Pantheon is one of my favorite buildings.
Check out the RS tour guide for Rome. He lists all kinds of different things to do.
Download Rick Steves app on your phone and take these self-guided walking tours: Heart of Rome, Trastervere. Jewish Ghetto and Roman Forum. Trastervere is my favorite neighborhood in Rome.
Another vote for Ostia Antica, and I would also suggest a walk down the Appian Way, or rent a bike and ride it. There are sites along the way you can go into.
Thx a lot. Will chk these things. Appreciate
Another vote for Ostia Antica and the Appian Way (get a taxi to drop you off at the section of the road that is pedestrianized...the Appian Way starts a long distance before you reach the part you really want to walk along). I also love Capitoline Hill and the Capitoline Museums. Visit the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere and stay in the area for lunch or dinner - some of my favorite restaurants in the city are here.

Ostia Antica is closed on Monday
What do you mean by “all tours closed on Sunday”?
The only venue I can think of that is closed on Sunday is the Vatican
