We have 4 days in Milan next month. We would like to see Lake Como and also Grindewald or mountain area. Is it better to spend a couple nights in Varenna or should we stay in Milan and do day trips out of Milan? It is my hubby and I traveling. Main reason for coming to this area is Lake Como
Grindelwald is quite far from Lake Como: 8+ hours. Definitely too far for a day trip.
You might consider Stresa on Lake Maggiore for one night, then continue on to Grindelwald for the remaining nights. That’s only 4.5 hours by train.
So would it be better to stay in Milan and do day trip to Bellagio/Varenna and another day trip to Grindewald? Or is that too much traveling and not much sight seeing?
