4 Days From Cetraro to Rome In May

We have 4 days to make our way from Cetraro to Rome this May. What is a good way to spend them? We'll depart Certraro Sunday morning and need to be up for an early flight out of Rome on Thursday.

We'd like to see Herculaneum (and/or Pompeii), and do wineries (especially if we can tour the winery and not simply taste some wines).

Can we do all of this without a car rental using trains? Or is it better to rent something?

We've seen most of the main tourist spots in Rome about 20 years ago. Never been to Naples but have heard it's a bit crazy for tourists / less safe.

All advice welcome!

That impression of Naples has been overcome. If you don’t like large cities though, you can stop at Salerno instead. Easy by train, and you can stay three nights and then last night at Rome.

I would rent a car.

Maratea would make a great stop if you do rent the car; it's just over an hour from Cetraro to there...

After, maybe think of a location along the coast like Gaeta or Sperlonga.

We like the town of Fiumicino very much and like to spend our last night in a hotel there..lovely to walk around, very lively, good places to eat... From here you just take a taxi to the airport in 10 minutes.
