4 days between Tuscany and Florence

Our Dolomites Trip got cancelled due to snow so we are trying to figure out where to go for 4 days instead. We were thinking about subbing in the Amalfi coast but it is so far down that we would be spending 12 hours just going down and back up to Florence by June 5.

Any ideas on destinations closer to Florence that offer a remote feel, unique experience, etc.? Any towns along the east or west coast between Tuscany and Florence that are worth spending time at?

May 27-June 1 - Southern Tuscany/Pienza
June 1 -June 5 - NEED DESTINATION
June 5-9 - Florence for a wedding

Just added to your Val Gardena post and I have the perfect recommendation for you! The system won't let me paste it here, so you'll have to go back to that post.

The direct Florence-Salerno high speed train takes 3 hours and 30 minutes. Plus around one hour on the ferry to the Amalfi Coast villages. Which site are you using to check the train schedules out? Use another one.

We would be coming from Pienza so it is closer to 6 hours one way all the way down and then another 6 back up

It's isn't the easiest trip, but if you are staying in Pienza the closest station would be Chiusi-Chianciano Terme, not Florence.
Picking the right departure hour, the journey from Chiusi to Salerno takes either 3 hours (dep. at 7:04 am) or almost 4 hours (departures at 14:59 and at 19:10) and one change.
The problem would be going from Pienza to Chiusi in the early morning. The last leg on the ferry isn't commuting anymore, it's already Amalfi Coast.
