Split between Padua (Padova) and Verona?
We like Bologna a lot. From your other posts, it’s appears you have a lively interest in good food, so Bologna might be a good fit. This city is not in Rick’s book, but that doesn’t mean it is not worthy of a visit. It is home to one of the oldest universities in Europe, with lots of interesting (and sometimes quirky) museums, and interesting history. The famous porticos make for pleasant walking. And of course there is the food, for which the city is justifiable famous.

We like to end our Italy visits in Bologna and fly out on British Airways from their airport. It is small, easy to navigate, and close to the city—a short and inexpensive taxi ride.
Base in Vicenza and do day trips to Padova and Verona and not be rushed.
A day in Ravenna
Ravenna is an easy daytrip from Bologna.
I’d say go to the Dolomites but it may be too early and things won’t be open yet. You could go to Trieste and then Slovenia, though. Good luck with whatever you decide!
We took a Northern Italy trip in 2023. From Venice, we spent two days in Verona. We like history, so there were some great sites Verona such as the Arena di Verona. From Verona, we took the train to Milan. Milan has so much to see too. The Duomo was wonderful and you could tour the roof. You could also make a reservation to see Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. Another idea is to Lake Como and/or to Bologna. One thing we missed doing while in Northern Italy was visiting the Ferrari factory which is near Modena.
If you still have time to stay in Venice longer, we took Prosecco tour from Venice.
