4-5 days in Sicily. suggestions?

We're spending four days or so in Sicily. Starting in Palermo. Working our way East towards Catania. Any suggestions? Could we do MT. Etna?

Cefalu is my very favorite town in Sicily. On the north coast on the way
to Taormina and Catania

I loved Taormina! [email protected] for apartment rentals. He can also hook you up with a guide that will take you to Mr. Etna. Don't miss it. There is also a wonderful agri-hotel there, run by a lovely family, a nearby vineyard to see. I'll check back when I go through my files.

Love Cefalu - beach, beautiful mosaics in the church, great restaurants. Also, if you decide to go inland (or have time for a daytrip from Catania), visit the Villa Romana di Casale near Piazza Armerina - fabulous mosaics that are being restored every day. Mt. Etna is definitely a possibility, as is Taormina. But I don't think you'll have time to do all of these things, you'll need to choose.

Jared, what time of year? Will you have a car? We picked up a Lonely Planet guidebook and did some reading, determined what we were interested in, and then used it to plan our various forrays into Sicily. Sicily is very large and you can't see the whole thing in one trip. The Taormina area would make a great base for exploring Mt Etna, and viscinity.

we are in Palermo now after touring by car for the past 10 days. Along your itinerary, you can't over-stay in Cefaluit was breath-taking and we also hiked to the top of the rock! l woulld skip villa armeninaia, only 3 rooms were open and no ine had any idea when they would open the rest. Also, we took the local highway out of Cefalu to the East and it is really on the prettiest rides we have taken, and then you can re-join the auto route at several points when you wish. While in Palermo, do go to Segesta, it was spectacular and the theater and temple are one of the best we've seen in Italy. We did Tamorina, stayed at the Hilton in Giridani Naxos(85E with breakfast) but skipped Mt Etna. Have fun!
By the way, we stayed at Villa Gaia in Cefalu right on the water and less than a km from town.
