3N in Florence for hotel option

3N in mid Sept, would like to be in central for food, boutique shops, upscale shop, some museum, self walking tour.

I have read other posters on the forum, such as staying at Duomo, walking distance to everywhere, correct ?

Here is few hotels I have in mind, perhaps you could help to rate your most to less favour.

1) Hotel Orto De 'Medici

2) Martelli 6 Suite and apartments

3)SoprArano Suites

Budget $ 200 -250 euro / night. Please suggest hotels you recommend, open to suggestion.

Going to CT on the 4th day early morning, staying 1 N. How early we shall departing from hotel ?

Thanks.

Haven't stayed at any of the hotels listed but purely from a location perspective, I'd rank them 1) Martelli 6, 2) Orto De 'Medici 3) SoprArano Suites

If you only have 1 day in the CT I'd leave as early as you can manage to make the best use of your time. There is a train from Firenze Campo di Marte station at 7:36 AM and arrives in La Spezia at 9:12. This is the fastest way to the CT that I know of. From La Spezia you'd take a local train to whichever village you're staying in the drop your luggage. Most hotels (are you staying in a hotel?) will store bags for you until check-in time.

Check out Hotel Perseo in Florence as well. Don't know about your listed hotels, but Perseo is right smack dab in the Duomo area, and is a very nice venue. The price is around $200 per night or so.

Kathy,

Thanks for your prompt response as always.

In CT, we plan staying 1N. Which village(s) do you recommend for accommodation. I have been browsing the CT accomdation, just a clean and safe place to stay.

we will have one checked in luggage and one carry on, try not to over shopping before Milan. How’s the road like for us to carry luggage up and down ?

Then train to Milan for 3N ( one day trip to lake como, still thinking 🤔)

Thanks

We like Monterosso as it's really the only one with actual hotels versus flats, B&B's. etc. La Spiaggia is a good choice as it's a short, easy walk from the train station with luggage - no hills - and it has an elevator. It gets very good reviews and is quite popular so fills up fast prior to high/shoulder season. Spend the extra for a room with a small balcony and a sea view. Rooms are small and basic but very clean. Close to restaurants, and breakfast is included in the tariff.
