I have seen a couple of posts referring to the Amica fare? What is it? I will be travelling by train in Italy soon and of course I am interested in the best value!!! Grazie.

Thank you.
A few more pointers about the AMICA fare:
Try to book at least one week in advance. Often, seats at this discounted fare sell out quickly.
If you can't find seats at this fare in second class, sometimes they will still be available in first class. The discounted first class AMICA fare will be only slightly more than the undiscounted BASE fare in second class.
Pay very careful attention to the fare restrictions, especially the consequences of MISSING your reserved train, and the limitations on changing your reservation to a later-departing train.
Can you please explain buying an online ticket using their SMART 1 and 2 fares? What is that?
