from a cruise ship docked in Piraeus, what is the best way to get ourselves to Athens - we have one day & hope to see Acropolis, Agora,Archaeological Museum & La Plaka on our own - is museum close to Acropolis? Is Oracle of Delphi anywhere nearby to get to in this day?

Just FYI... This is the Italy forum, so your Greece questions are probably better off in the 'To the East' forum.
Anyway, the Acropolis, Agora, Plaka and Museum are doable in a really busy day. It just depends how much time you will have in town before you have to get back to the ship. Delphi is it's own day trip out of Athens, so it wouldn't be feasible to do it along with the others on the same day.
The metro goes out to the port and there is bus service as well.
Most of the guidebooks list the easiest transportation options and one day overviews of Athens. Have fun!
