My husband has been traveling to Austria frequently for work and we are planning a time for me to come over and spend about a week traveling together. We are looking at mid-October and flying into and out of Munich. We are looking at Vienna-Salzburg-Innsbruck or Venice (incl. Verona and/or Padua and/or Vicenza). Opinions?
We lived in Frankfurt for 1 1/2 years. Just got back from Venice. Really two different experiences. So depends on what you are looking for in a vacation. In October the weather in Germany is heavy sweater type. We loved Germany because not so touristy, awesome scenery, great wine and beer, and cathedrals. We had a car there and drove all over, or took trains. Culture very Bavarian. In Italy we loved the people, the food and wine. Great experience to have been in Venice and see the history but also more geared to the tourist. So it really depends on what you want to experience.
