We are heading from Rome to Naples on the high-speed train (70 minutes) on a Thursday in late April, arriving morning, and will return to Rome the following evening (Friday) on the high-speed train. We will stay overnight near Beverello port. We're in Naples to wander and have pizza, and I don't think we need to see Pompeii. However, I would really like to take a high-speed hydrofoil to Capri OR Sorrento OR Amalfi because I love boats and I've always wanted to see at least one of these islands/coastal cities. Given that we are going to give one of those days to Naples and the other to this daytrip, which coastal island/town would you recommend? I only need one. I don't need to do it all. I could even do Ischia since I'm a fan of Elena Ferrante's novels. I guess we could also plan to spend the night in one of the coastal towns instead of near the port then return to Naples in the morning and do our Naples day? I know this sounds like a lot for 30-hours ... don't fear, the rest of the trip is leisurely. TIA!
