Wanting to start in Corsica and drive up the coast of Italy. Would like to see The Amalfi Coast,Capri,Naples Tuscany , Rome and finally Florence. Is this realistic in three weeks? Probably would rent a car so we can experience the feel of the culture.
Do you mean Calabria, not Corsica?
Amalfi Coast & Capri - 5 nts
Naples - 2 nts
Rome - 6 nts
Tuscany - 5 nts
Florence - 3 nts
Sorry, I meant Sicily not Corsica. However Corsica would also be a nice side trip if time permitted.
Where in Sicilia do you plan to start? Are you seeing any place in Sicilia?
Tropea is a nice stopover, beautiful setting on a promontory. Paestum has great ruins, good beaches, a very good museum, and mozzarella farms. A couple of nights in each of these places will give you a nice break.
Then the Amalfi Coast, Napoli, Roma, Orvieto, and Firenze.
Thinking of driving from Sicily to Florence. do you recommend?
I'd put more focus on planning the southern part of your trip and see if your interests there end up filling the space on your calendar. You could easily spend half of your total travel time in Sicily, for instance copying the route of Rick's guided Sicily Tour. It would also be pretty easy to spend a week in Tuscany, if you wanted to explore several towns at a leisurely pace. Florence and Rome are easy to reach on "any future" Italy trip, and easy to reach by train.
It's a long drive. From Florence to the strait is 8 or 9 hours.
The drive would over a total of 3 weeks starting in Sicily. Sounds like it might work if its only 8-9 hours total time
