Myself and two others will be traveling to Italy in April. Is it possible to have only one hotel room for 3 people to cut cost? Any advice would be great. Thanks!
Thanks for the reply. If anyone does have any favorite places offering triples I would love to know! We will be staying in Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome.
In Rome I stayed with a friend at the Hotel Panda near the Spanish Steps. They room had a double bed and a single. So if two people are willing to share a bed... This was a great location for us.
Never had a problem getting a triple room anywhere we asked. Just request a triple. Just a few to name, In Venice "Al Portico Guest House", in Florence "Hotel Il Bargellino"
You need to understand the difference between US hotel policies and European. In general in the US you rent the room but in Europe it most often per person. So don't assume you can take a double and put three people in it. If you have three people you need to ask for a triple.
IME the majority of "double" beds in hotel rooms seem to be twin beds pushed together. Therefore a great many of the rooms advertised as having a double and single bed should be suitable. As has already been said just ask for a triple room and make clear that you want three single beds.
