We will be staying 3 nights in Umbria. We plan to rent a car in Rome and return it to Rome. Looking for recommendations for a 3 night itinerary and/or homebase recommendation. This will be the final leg of our trip with my husband, myself and our 2 kids (18 and 21). Looking for a slower pace and to really have the Umbria experience. We will be traveling in August

Orvieto one day on your way to Spoleto or Perugia (use one to spend the night, but visit both). Also, take in Assisi.

We loved staying at Ristorante Locanda Stella on the outskirts of Perugia. It is a charming place run by a couple. The husband is a chef who serves Unbrian dinners at night and a good breakfast. The tooms have wonderful biews of the country side. We droveinto Perugia, parked and took the mini metro up the hill

We spent two weeks in Spello and I highly recommend that you stay there. We easily did day trips to Assisi, Bevagna, Montefalco and Perugia. But the time we stayed put in Spello was the best part of the trip!
