We will be staying 3 nights in Siracuse and the only thing planned for sure is Ortygia. I would like recommendation's on places to see within a 50 mile range of Siracuse.

Noto is about 23 miles from Siracusa, Ragusa is about 51 miles. There is an excellent museum in Siracusa itself. Be sure to look at the Duomo in Ortygia, built using a Greek temple as its foundation and structure.

In Siracusa you could also visit the Archaeological Park. Second the suggestions for Noto and Ragusa. We stayed in Ragusa Ibla and might have to say we liked it more than Siracusa.

You are very welcome. I love Sicilia! And yes, the archeological zone is vast, you can get a guide onsite (or you could four years ago, now I just wander around on my own).
