#3 last question for now. Backpacks, bags in St Peter's?

I know that you have to go thru a security check before entering the Basilica. Can you take a small backpack in? I want to take cameras and I pad inside for pictures. Thanks

I don't remember about the Basilica and backpacks.

I do remember a cloak room in the Museum in the basement where you can leave backpacks and suitcases.

Google the Vatican.

I took one in a couple of weeks ago without issue. All bags are scanned.

Yes, as long as it's small. If it's this large-cm 40 x 35 x 15- they will probably make you check it since they don't want to risk you bumping into other people or the artwork.

donna's got it. Remember that knees and shoulders must be covered for all visitors, male and female and all ages.

Thanks, I was envsioning just enough for the cameras, maybe a messenger type bag. We are traveling from Florence that morning, want to drop bags at hotel and get in line quickly for the Basilica only . We have been to Sistine x2, want time for church visit - last time inside was set up for mass and we could not get close to altar area.
