Can you recommend a 2 or 3 star hotel for a family of 2 adults and two children near the SMN train station? They will be arriving at 6 pm at FLR and leaving the next day from SMN for Rome.
Are you aware that the star system in Italy is not a reflection of the quality of a place, but rather is tied to the various amenities they offer, such as an elevator, parking, 24 hr desk, etc? There are many 2 star places that are nicer than 3 star places. It might open up some better options for you. Also, what's the price range you're looking for in euros or dollars?
Thank you for the advice. I had forgotten about the star system being different. I had hoped that we could find a hotel for under $200 dollars a night.
While there are several 3 star hotels near the train station, the most delightful by far is L'orologio Hotel. Lovely rooms; great breakfast room and a fabulous bar. Recently opened and very posh in an old building right on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. 1300 feet from train station. I think your children will love the clocks everywhere.
