thanks for reply.. don’t know where to begin .. travel agent has only started us with €30,000 a week for a villa which seems excessive… perhaps I need to do more research to know where to stay since we’ve never traveled to that part of it country… Any suggestions?

Is that just for the villa or is it a bigger package that includes airfare, ground transport, etc?

So this trip is for longer than the week in the villa. and you want to expand it to other accommodations in other locations (all in Sicily?) for several days before and after the villa stay? That's not part of your agent's estimate, right?

Approx. ages of the 13? Any mobility issues? "Adventures" may depend on both. Family interests would be helpful as well.

I most appreciate your response… No mobility issues for four 70 -year-old grandparents, six 40 year-old parents, two 11 year-olds and three 8-year-olds. We wanted close access to a town, so she suggested Taormina. The quote with cancellation Insurance and exchange rate for just one week for the Villa with the pool and access by 200 steps to the town was $31k+.. includes nothing else but the seven nights in villa.. obviously we still need to book air and all other excursions. Any suggestions would be helpful. Flying in a day or two early and leaving a day or two after in the direction to coordinate with our flights would make sense. We’ve been to many of the high lights in the big cities of Florence Rome, Venice, etc., although with the kids, we’d probably consider doing Venice for them to see.

some of the excursions we would enjoy is obviously related to food such as a cooking class as well as pizza making (that is our business) , and would welcome a private chef in house for a couple of meals. My husband‘s Italian roots are five hours away, so we probably wouldn’t attempt that this trip. We would enjoy anything on the water, including catamaran, or boat trips, also would enjoy a jeep tour to Mt Etna and wineries.
also a day trip to another city like Palermo would be nice.. likely will need to rent two vans for the week..

That is an expensive villa. I’m sure it will be lovely but it’s a lot.

I regularly book villas with pools. I haven’t been to Sicily but my usual method is to search Airbnb and Vrbo with my dates, number of bedrooms etc and then just go through every single option. The cheaper ones are not going to be in walking distance of prime tourist towns like Taormina but if you rent cars then that won’t be a problem.

It’s nice to be able to walk somewhere from the villa and we try to find that, but that could be a random small town or village. It’s doesn’t have to be somewhere fancy.
