3 full days in the Dolomites

My husband and 13 year old son will be spending 4 nights in Ortisei in the latter part of June. We will have a car. I would love some suggestions on a 3 day itinerary. Would you add anything? We would like to do some light hiking, but not anything more than 2 or 3 hours. Any restaurant recommendations? Has anyone taken tours that they could recommend?

Day 1
Seceda - take cable car up and hike around for a few hours and have lunch up at a hut.
Golf in the afternoon
Dinner in Ortisei

Day 2
Drive to Lago di Braies in the morning, hike around the lake and maybe rent a boat for an hour
Drive to Santa Magdelena, see the village, St. Johann Church and hike around
Drive back to Ortisei for dinner

Day 3
Alpe di Siusi - hike around have lunch at the Rauche Hutte
What are some other things we could do the 2nd half of the day?
Also, since we are staying in Ortisei should we just take the cable car from there or is there a need to drive over to Compatsh?

Thank you!

Cindy

We also had three days in Ortisei. We stayed at the Hotel Grones and dream about returning there, one of our favorite hotels ever. They helped us plan our hiking days.
When you go down the hill to the valley, you can go up either side to absolutely stunning and lovely places to walk, mountain meadows surrounded by the Dolomite spires. One side has large gondolas, the other side a funicular or cog railway, don’t recall. We were just talking about how we want to return to Ortisei and travel up to those meadows again . There are places to eat up there too.

That looks like a wonderful plan. Like Suki, I have very fond memories of staying at the Hotel Grones in Ortisei and look forward to returning one day.

As for getting up to Seiser Alm, the cable car from Ortisei is great and the walking once you're up there is very easy. I was visiting with my mother (in her early 60s) and we walked from the mountain station from the Ortisei lift to Compatsch, stopped there for a morning coffee break (naturally), and then wandered over to the Rauche Hutte for lunch (long wait, even at the end of September). All very easy and very beautiful walking. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
