3 days in Milan

We are in Milan from the 20th to 23rd of September, we have looked into some city tours including the last supper,, with one tour including a night time visit to view the last supper including dinner at Eataly. It seem, this seemed rather expensive at 160 euro p/p. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding city tours and or having experienced the night time dinner plus last supper viewing.

That does seem ecorbitant.

I have spent limited time in Milan and have no suggestions to offer concerning city tours. I assume you already know about the beautiful Duomo, whose roof can be visited. But are you aware that the atmospheric hill town of Bergamo is an hour or less away by frequent trains?

The inclusion of dinner pushes this way past reasonable. Tickitaly shows tours on your dates that include the Last Supper (among other sites) for €81.00. Still seems high to me. in 2010 we secured tickets for €45.00-or-so, I think from Selectitaly, but that site is not showing September sales open yet.

Eataly is an experience you can have on your own and you can eat as much -- or as little -- as you like, without a tour.

Given that the Last Supper is pretty much an appointment only and group of 15 or less every 15 minutes for 15 minutes of dehumidification and 15 minutes of viewing, I think a tour of it is silly. Since you go through a series of rooms with a lot of information about the artwork, and, if you have a Internet or a guidebook, you can spend the time reading that material about the artwork, I really think a guide unnecessary.

As to Eataly, I can speak of the one here in Chicago, but you really don't need a guide to either have a meal or drop €300 euro shopping. The staff is incredible in their knowledge. I'm a bit of a food snob so while I'd shop at Eataly (just dropped $50 a week ago here), I think I'd eat somewhere else in Milan. It's has many many nice restaurants that cover a wide breadth of Italy.
