3 days hiking in the dolomites- recommendations?

My daughter and I will be spending a week hiking in the lauterbrunnen valley in Switzerland in late August, then heading over to spend several days hiking in the Dolomites. I am wondering if anyone could help with the following questions:

1) what is the best route to get there (fly? train from Lucern to Bolzano via Milan? train via Innsbruck) ?
2) where is the best place to stay- Castelrotto vs Bolzano vs elsewhere?
3) which hut to hut loop hike is most scenic- probably just on night in a hut- for the experience/ variety of the area and ability to cover more distance than returning back each night to a town ?

Thanks!

The best route by train is Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken Ost to Spiez to Milano to Verona to Bolzano, then by bus to your final destination. Long day. Look at www.Rome2Rio.com for the route.

August is peak season so you may have to be flexible on where you stay, but the Val Gardena is exceptional.
