3 days between Sienna and Florence

Hi - I'm leaving Vienna on Tuesday morning, and I hope to reach Gimmelwald by Thursday evening (not too late) -- and I hope to spend the time in between at either Florence or Sienna. I'm lost as to what to do, since I've been to Vienna (not so hot on it) and Gimmelwald (my favorite spot in Europe) but neither Florence or Sienna.

Sienna sounds wonderfully cozy, but a bit sleepy. Florence seems to be a "must" but not sure how it compares to Sienna. I don't care for the world-class museums (too many already on my list) but more for a memorable ambience and experience.

Any help you guys can provide for this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can't go wrong, either way, Choong. I prefer Florence. Even if you don't delve into the world-class art, the scene along the Arno, the simple hike up to Piazzale Michelangelo for the stunning city view, Piazza Signoria, Brunelleschi's dome at Santa Maria di Fiori...you just can't go wrong. Great people watching, food, culture, shopping. As for Siena, sure, sleepier, smaller, but a stunning hill town preserved in many ways in its medieval form. You could do three nights in Florence and take a day trip to Siena via coach bus (just over an hour, direct). Buon viaggio!

My 2 cents would be to spend the time in Florence. It is a fantastic city and lot to do and see. Siena is nice, but it gets crowded during the day and not a lot lot to do.

I would do an overnight trip in Sienna, leave florence in the afternoon, spend the afternoon and an overnight in Sienna. That way, less tourist. there is also a great restaurant there.
