I wanted to see if anyone has purchased point to point train tickets for Italy at http://www.italiarail.com/
I know most people advise to buy tickets when you get over to Italy, but it looks like I will have a few tight train transfers between destinations and I read not all ticket machines take US credit cards. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
It is difficult to purchase any tickets for Italian rails in advance. You need to enroll in the VISA security program that is explain earlier on this site. Tight train connections should not prevent you from purchasing after you arrive. When you purchase the ticket you purchase the whole trip not single legs. While there are tickets machine that only take the newer cards, there are plenty of machine that take the old card -- generally surrounded by American tourists.
You can also buy your tickets at a travel agency which displays the Trenitalia logo at no extra cost.
