24 hours in the country? One rural/small village between Innsbruck and Rome.

Because of some necessary plans, I know we're covering way too much ground on this trip, but we need to see Innsbruck and Rome (I assume by train, but open to ideas) in about 5 days before flying or City Line Night training back to Munich.

I realize 5 days is barely enough to spend in those two cities, but in addition, I would love to work in one rural Italy experience. I don't mind spending money, even on a private driver/guide, to help us make the most of a rural day.

We've visited Cinque Terre, Florence and done a day drive through Tuscany previously.

Perhaps they pick us up at a station, we overnight at a cool B&B, breathe some country air, and a driver takes us back to the fast train? I would love suggestions of a great 24 hours in small town Italy that won't throw us too far off our schedule. Priorities are food, wine, shopping and relaxation.

You could consider the Dolomite area. Gorgeous alpine area for a day of driving , sightseeing . The transportation hub nearby is Bolzano.

Dolomites are lovely (our favorite place in all of Italy) but you have to have 3 nights to make it worthwhile to travel in-and-out. What time of year are you traveling? You can have a rural experience not far from Rome, but it would be helpful to know the TOY.
