Thanks everyone for your advice and travel tips. We are leaving Monday night for Rome, CT, Montepulciano, Florence and Venice.

Don't forget to punch your train ticket before you get on. That's one of the hardest things for me to remember when I'm there. Mental block, for some reason.

Remember to take time to sit, relax, have a glass of Pino Grigio or Chianti and enjoy your surroundings and of course people watch.

Stay away from restaurants that have there menus in English and/or are close to a tourist attraction. A couple of blocks away will usually be good.
