Unfortunately we arrive at Malpensa late- seems the trains and buses stop running at 2300 and I'm sure we won't have cleared customs that quickly! Besides an expensive taxi into Milan (Rick quotes about 70 Euros!), does any one know other options? We are arriving mid September. We plan to stay in MIlan for 2 days and then to Varenna. thanks

A taxi into town was about €80/$130 two years ago, you say €70 now, let's hope so. That or staying in an airport area hotel seem to be the only choices. If you want a link to airport area hotels, write back.

I think it would be easier to make a reservation at one of the airport hotels and let them pick you up after you've cleared customs. Kent knows how to link to a discussion of these hotels I started a few months ago, and you can also search on "malpensa hotel" in the box above.
