21 days to travel

Hi. I'm 21 and my brother is 18 and we have 21 days and hope to see a bunch of places. Here's what we are hoping for Rome, Florence, Venice, Tuscanny, Barcelona, Porto, Duori River Cruise and Lisbon. I'd love to go to Rovinj too but not sure we can swing it. Any suggestions for if this is do able would be appreciated.

Since you posted this in "To the Boot" I presume Italy is high on your list. If I only had 21 days, I'd spend them all in Italy. Rome 1 week, Venice 4 nights, Florence 3 nights, and the rest in a small Tuecan or Umbrian town (or two).

Here is how you could do this 1) Fly into Rome 2) Train to Florence. Florence is in Tuscany so I'm assuming you want to visit one of the smaller towns. You could take day trips from Florence or choose a town to stop and stay in for a night or two. 3) Train to Venice 4) Fly Venice to Barcelona 5) Fly Barcelona to Porto
6) Douro River 7) Lisbon 8) Fly home from Lisbon I'd plan on at least 3 nights in each major city and at least 2 nights in smaller towns. You will lose at least half a day whenever you change locations. Don't count on doing much your first and last day. Most people on this board prefer to take things slower. When I was in my 20s, I rarely spent more than 2 nights in a single location and I enjoyed that but it can be tiring. I tried to keep my locations close to each other ... no more than a 2 to 3 hour train ride between them. You've got between 7 and 8 locations for what is probably 19 full days. It is possible, but ambitious. Rovinj is too far out of the way for this and while it is a cute town, it is best saved for another trip.
