We are doing two tours in Rome on our first day. Roman Forum & Colosseum in the am and Heart of Rome in the pm, in between planning to do the Borghese if possible or maybe the Hop on Hop off bus. Is this too much to do on first day? There is so much to see!
Thanks
That seems like an awful lot to put into one day to me. Could you do the Borghese in the afternoon and self-tour for the heart of Rome in the later afternoon / evening?
Yes A, it is too much. The tour of the Roman Forum & Colosseum takes a good 4 hours (more than likely also includes Palatine Hill). The Heart of Rome tour takes approx. 2 hours. The Borghese Gallery also takes a good 2 hours to tour properly (suggest using the audio tour they offer). This is not counting the travel time to get from the Colosseum area to the Borghese Gallery and then back again to the Trevi Fountain where the Heart of Rome tour starts. Do the Borghese Gallery another day, if possible....it's a great attraction that we thoroughly enjoyed. You will also need time to eat in between these tours. It's better to take things slowly so as to enjoy what you're doing. Otherwise, you're just rushing from place to place and not getting the enjoyment out of this very special city.
I agree that this is too much to try and do in one day. The Borghese is a little further out and even in a taxi took about 15 minutes to get out there from where we were staying. Easily takes 2 hours to go through. Also, you will need an advance reservation to see it.
Thanks for the advise. We will do the Borgheses another day and leave time to rest between the two other tours.
A.
