In 2025, how much more crowded will Florence and the Tuscany region be due to the pilgrimage to Rome?
If I could answer that I would predicted the stock market and retire rich. Since there is some distance between Rome and Florence, I would assume that the impact would not be that great. But all of Italy tends to be packed in the summer.
Tuscany is a large area packed with attractions. I would not let it stop me, but I tend to avoid the most popular attractions just by interest. Florence is already jammed in summer!
And we are coming in April or October to Tuscany region and heading south, avoiding Rome this time.
So, I heard Rick and 2 of his Italy tour guides discuss this recently. They think Rome will definitely be more crowded because of the Jubilee but that other areas farther from Rome will likely not see much of an increase over the usual tourist numbers they experience.
