We are hoping to see some outdoor films while in Italy late July, early August. I have found a few references to past events but nothing yet for 2012. Anyway have information or outdoor cinema or festival websites?

Do you speak Italian? This may seem obvious, but the movies will be in Italian. No English dubbing or subtitles. I don't mean to insult you, but that might not have occurred to some people. Have a great time.

No, we don't speak Italian! Thanks for asking. We show outdoor movies in various venues in our city, so we want to go for the experience to learn how the Italians produce open air movie events.

Even in Italy, art house cinemas and movie festivals typically show features in their original languages with Italian subtitles (the mass-market cineplexes do dub most everything). Since a lot of these outdoor programs are organized and affiliated with the same folks there's a good chance that some flicks can be understood by non Italian speakers.
