2 weeks: Rome, Amalfi coast, Sicily

Most people reporting in here seem to give Rome 4 or 5 nights, for a first time visit. The time you spend in "the Amalfi" and "Sicily" depend entirely on what locations you want to see within those large areas, your travel budget, etc--things we don't know about your trip.

In the trip I just came back from, I spent 7 days in Rome, 3 days on day-trips (Naples, Pompeii, Paestum, etc.) and 3 days on Sorrento/Amalfi coast. I too thought about going to Sicily but I ended up not.
