2-week stay on the Amalfi coast-looking for an apartment

Can anyone recommend an apartment, a contact person or a web site I can trust? I want to take a 2 week break on the Amalfi coast, potentially staying in Amalfi, Atrani or Positano. Any recommendations on a town to stay in? I'm traveling alone and a little concerned about who to trust. Thanks! Janice.

I went through Venere.com in 2008 and ended up renting an apt above da Vincenzo restaurant in Positano. It is not the quietest place being above an Italian restaurant but I LOVED it. It is on Viale Pasitea; I walked the road after using the steps to & from the sea and that was perfect. I used the grocery store on up the road; you MUST recycle yourself when you are in n apt. It has 2 tiny balconies; AC; It is so much cheaper to be in an apt!!! there e-mail address: www.davincenzo.it info@davincenzo.it tel.# +39 089 875128. I rented their 2 room bath in apt: they appeared to have other apts also.

You might also try vrbo.com or HomeAway. They specialize in vacation rentals by owner. You are in direct contact with owners of the the properties for rent. I've rented three times through vrbo in Italy. Recently reserved an apartment in Sorrento for one week through HomeAway.

Hi Janice
In early Oct.2007 we stayed at Villa Terrazza in Sorrento, waterfront, cliffside above Marina Piccola.
There are several apartments of different configurations available with decks practically hanging over the Bay of Naples facing Mt. Vesuvius. A little pricy but our host Andrea made us feel very at home and also has a beautiful classic powerboat to take you on tours to Capri etc. We felt very comfortable and safe staying there and had just a short walk up to town center. It was the most beautiful and elegant accommodation of our month long trip. I also vote for Sorrento as a home base for day tours to the rest of the Amalfi Coast. The transportation options to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi, Capri etc are most accessible from Sorrento.
