2 questions regarding trip to Rome??

We are staying at via camillo, de lellis, in Monteverdi. What is the best way to get to the Fiumicino Airport, with light lugage, 8-9 am?

We are traveling by train to several areas in Italy. How and where can we check in advance to see if our train in leaving on schedule, on the day of the trip?

From your other question, it seems you wanted to go from Termini to this address. If you want to go to FCO, a taxi or private car service will be most direct. Try www.romecabs.com for a quote. They are quite dependable.

We have used Romecabs.com for an early morning transfer to the airport. That was in 2015, but I think you should check their website. You book ahead and pay the driver the morning you ride. Don't be put off by the word "cab." The car we were in was a clean Mercedes, and the driver was very professional in his dress and demeanor. He was there on time and got us to the international terminal.

About the trains, we arrive about 15 to 20 minutes before a train is scheduled to depart and check the boards for our train. Trains can be a tad early or late, but the only way to know that we have found is to get to the station and find the info on the board. We have traveled throughout Italy on their train system and find it to be very reliable. No need to worry.

I'm guessing you are staying somehwere on via Camillo de Lellis, Rome, Italy? This is in the Monteverde neighborhood.

You can check on the Trenitalia website, or on the Trenitalia App, to see if your train is on time. This will be more important if you are boarding at an intermediate stop some hours after the train started. If it hasn't started, it is unlikely to be late.

I would regard this as academic information. If it is late, it will be 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes late, not enough to make you delay your departure for the station. Once you get to the station, the departure boards at the station will tell you if your train is on time.

In reviewing some of our train trips, there are stops where we need to change trains. The allotted time for the change ranges from 8-18 minutes. Is this difficult to do for new train travelers in Italy?

5-10 minutes is plenty at a small station (1-4 platforms). Both your trains may well stop at the same platform, or worst case it is down a flight of steps, a short tunnel and up a flight of steps to the other platform.
Big stations 10-15 minutes. For example, Milano Centrale or Roma Termini are terminus stations and as big as they get. You have to walk to the front of the train, round the end and back up your new platform (Click here for photo of Milano Centrale).

The important thing in both cases is to find a departure board/screen and look which platform number (Binari) your train is departing from (click for photo of departure board at Milano Centrale).

Are you departing back to the US? And what time is your flight?

With a noon flight, I'd have a car come to get me no later than 8:00 am. You should check in 3 hours in advance.
