2 questions on water transportation-Venice

1. Can you please tell me how late a vaporetto runs from Burano back to Venice, and which one to get on and where? 2. Is there a place to book an evening gondola ride, or do you just have to flag one down and ask. Is there a certain place you should get on it?
Thank you so much

Don't know #1, but #2 is easy: Getting a gondola in Venice is like getting a taxi in Rome. There are designated places all over the place where gondolas pull up and wait for a customer. You don't need to book an evening ride - they always have gondolas ready. Just walk up to wherever you see a few of them hanging around.

I believe the vaporetto you want is the LN. It departs and returns to the San Zacharria/Pieta stop near San Marco. Here's a link to the schedule. http://www.actv.it/pdf/navigazione/LN.pdf You might have to change boats at Punta Sabbioni. Further, I see late hours but I have not made this run so I cannot comment from experience on this run. The Venice website www.actv.it has been re-done an the schedule they used to have on there for their vaporettos seems to be gone.

I cannot give details, but from my memory I believe the vaporetto from Burano to Venice runs back decently late. Also, when leaving from Burano it is pretty easy to figure out which one to take to get back to Venice. They have maps that are easy to follow and find your schedule/route. Don't know how much time you're planning to do Murano/Burano/Torcello, but if you plan on spending an afternoon or full day, it may be worth it to buy the 12 hour pass because you have the flexibility of riding however many rides you need, at whichever times.

While you can certainly get one very easily at a stand, I believe you may be able to reserve online for a small discount ahead of time. Haven't done it myself (a traghetti was our 0.50 c gondola experience :)), so I could be mistaken. I read this on Tripadvisor's Venice board, if you want to root around the gondola threads.
