Has anyone ever slept 2 people in a single room? I am looking at La Marina Rooms in Vernazza and the only room he has left is a single room, but he said the bed is almost a king size. Seems fine to me?? and cheaper! Any suggestions??
My experience is similar to Kent. European hotel pricing is almost always by the person as compared to the US when it is almost always by the room. In all of our travels I have never seen a king size bed even in a 5 star hotel in London (I wasn't paying). I think Queen size beds are hard to fine.
Sara - the single room they show on the website has what appears to be a single bed (twin size) and the room is fairly small.

If it's this one I'd say no.
If you want to pursue, find out exactly which room. they are all shown on the website.
Sarah: Here's the photo of the room labeled "single room" on your hotel's website, the one found by Ron. Have you seen the photo? "Almost a king size," eh?Does the hotel operator know you're thinking of putting two people in that bed?
I agree with Kent. we had a miscommunication with a hotelier in Venice- 2 people in a "single" he was very mad at us. He raised the rate and I am sure put us in the worst room. A bad experience
We did, but the bed was an US twin size and we paid an extra 10EUR.
It's cheaper indeed , but when you book, let them know that there will be 2 of you.
In might be a king size in some of the Europeans' eyes, but don't forget that everything in Europea is much smaller than in the US.
Yes, in case you haven't already, you have to let the hotel know how many people are in your room. Or, like another poster mentioned, they will be upset. The price-per-person thing is a big deal. I've been told it is because they factor in things like water/electricity usage for each guest. Also, the breakfast is often included.
If you and your travel companion agree on it though, I don't see why you couldn't both fit. Perhaps a cot could be brought in, or you cozy up :) If this doesn't bother you, perhaps you could end up saving some money.
I'd echo everyone else on here Sarah - even if it is practical, you will probably get charged more. It's not like the US where sliding a couple extra people in your room at the Holiday Inn is no big deal. In m personal experience, European hotel managers/owners will make a fuss if you arrive with more people that you booked the room for. And by fuss, I mean charge more (up to double), or refuse the reservation. Just fyi.
