Stresa hands down. Cozier and quainter and You will save a bundle. When you cross the border into Switzerland prices double.

Stress is a nice resort town. Drove to Lorcano, and it seemed nice. Your choice.

Roberto is right. This past June, I took the Bernina Express to Pontresina for the night....at the end of a 2 week Italy vacation.

Great views, snowed in June, beautiful little town. I stopped at a small restaurant and it cost me $30 USD for a hamburger, fries and a coke. I was waiting for them to sprinkle gold dust on the fries for me...but that never happened. :)

Anywhere in Italy is my choice!

Stresa/Baveno area, for sure. I have stayed at Albergo Eden and at Carillon Hotel and at Verbano (which is IN the lake on Isola Superiore). Love this lake.
