2 nights in Venice with big suitcase. Which hotel is convenient and charming?

Hello.
Husband, teenage son and I will arrive at Venice airport at noon in mid January after a 20 hour trip from Asia. We will stay in Venice 48 hours before we move on to our ski trip in Corvara.

Because we are skiing, we will have around 3 suitcases with us.

Any suggestion for a 3.5-5 hotel that is convenient to get to from Venice airport, but is also charming and in decent location? I worry after 20 hours of traveling if we have the brain energy to find a hotel that's buried deep inside different calle and alleyways.

Once checked in, we have no problem walking around.

Thank you so much!

Look for hotels located around Piazzale Roma, if arriving by bus or land taxi, or near Santa Lucia station if arriving by train. This lessens the need for vaporettos or hauling luggage over bridges. The Hotel Santa Chiara may meet your needs.

We always stay in another part of Venice, but since you have large luggage, you want to stay in a location that doesn't require much walking and crossing bridges. Use Google Maps and search for "Hotels Piazzale Roma, Venice". By zooming in, you'll see a number of hotels located close by. You can then check them our and see if they'll meet your needs.

What is your mode of travel from the airport ?
We love Hotel Ai Mori D'Oriente, in the quiet Cannaregio area, on the back canals. A water taxi can take you straight to the front door of the hotel. Book the hotel directly for a discount. Wonderful service and atmosphere.

We also like the Grand Hotel Dei Dogi, same area, but the rates are creeping upwards.
Have a great trip.

For charming and in a decent location, I will recommend, as usual, the Al Ponte Mocenigo. It is easily accessible by vaporetto, being maybe a short block fron the San Stae stop, not far from the train station.

If that would be too difficult, there is another option: the hotel has a water door, so a water taxi from the airport can deliver you - and your bags - directly to the entrance of the hotel.

There is no elevator, but the staff would be more than willing to help you maneuver your bags upstairs, should that be necessary.

The hotel is small, quiet, with beautiful rooms and a warm and welcoming staff.

Look into taking a water taxi from the airport to the front door of your hotel. It costs more than other forms of public transport but it literally takes you from the airport to your hotel. (Check to make sure your hotel has a dock or is close enough where you don't have to cross bridges or walk far.) And with three large pieces of luggage, and after a 20 hour flight.......it's the easiest.

What is your budget for the hotel?

Hotel al Codega is wonderful. If you get a private water taxi, they can drop you off right by the hotel. If you take public transportation, the hotel is a 5 minute walk from both Rialto and San Marco. Good luck

Thank you all for the thoughtful suggestions. I've decided to take a water taxi to an aparthotel near Rialto. Next time when we spend more time in Venice, I'll plan to stay in more characteristic hotels. For now, I'll splurge more on Florence where we will stay for 5 nights.

We've stayed at the Hotel Papadopoli Venezia - MGallery many times (most recently October'22) because it's very nice, and right next to Piazza Roma, the last point where cars can drive. There are always porters to hire to take your luggage the last little way. https://all.accor.com/hotel/1313/index.en.shtml

thanks for all the replies.

we ended up staying at bemate ponte rialto and took a water taxi from the airport. i figure after travelling almost 20 hours, water taxi would be nice.

it turned out rialto stop was 100 steps away, stair free. so upon checking out, we dragged all 5 suitcases and 3 hand carry to Rialto stop and rode to Piazzale Roma.
