We are a group of 3 couples looking for a reasonable hotel for a two night stay in Venice. We would like to keep it under $200 a night. Any suggestions?
www.yeego.com has very good prices for Venice. I used them last year to book several rooms for my group. I've also used Yeego several times with good results and never a problem.
If you mean under $200 a night for each couple, you have tons of options, although you should know that prices are higher in high season (not surprisingly). When are you going? A very popular recommendation on this board is the Pensione Guerrato. We've stayed there twice and can't recommend it highly enough. Excellent location, extremely friendly and helpful staff and good prices. It's also where the RS tour groups stay when they're in Venice. http://www.pensioneguerrato.it/ Whatever you do, be sure to stay on the island of Venice itself, not on the mainland to save a couple of bucks. And here's a photo of one of the owners of PG, Roberto: http://tinyurl.com/RobertoAtPGuerrato
There is a nice B&B near the Rialto Bridge for 130 Euro/nite. Ca' Felice is the name of the B&B - owner is Hugues Husson goes by Hugo. I have not been there yet - I have 2 nights reserved for my son and I the last week of May. Good reviews on TripAdvisor too. Found him on Bed-and-Breakfast-in-italy.com.
Check out Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo. We enjoyed it and would go back again. The owners are friendly and easy to work with.
Like most they gave a discount for cash and the RS book. Have a great trip!
Wife and I stayed at this B&B; great location, clean, elegant rooms with a shared common lobby/area that might be nice for a group like yours. Was 110 euro/night last August. http://www.venere.com/bandb/venice/bandb-palazzo-duodo/
We stayed at Hotel Bel Sito or Albergo Bel Sito. The rooms were not palatial and were on the smallish side, but they were clean, with all the amenities (including an elevator. Try carrying your luggage three flights of stairs, you'll be wishing for one) and it's centrally located. The hotel is in Campo di Gigili across from the main entrance to the Chiesa di Gigili (church). It's easy to get to on the Vaporeto #1 and about 50 yards away from the Vaporeto stop, so you don't have lug your luggage very far. It's situated between San marco, Academia and Rialto (funny thing is the Gritty Palace Hotel is on the same campo w/out the big price). As far as price; you didn't state when you were planning to visit? So that could be more at peak season. I believe when we went it was about 90 euros a night. I booked it as a package with Expedia with the breakfast included, so it's kind of hard to tell. If your planning on purchasing your airfare separate from your hotel, it could be more expensive. Packaging it might be cheaper.
Sorry I forgot to mention we will be in Venice in September.
We liked La Calcina-convenient to vaporetto stop. Rooms are quiet with comfortable beds. There is a rooftop terrace with view of Guidecca and outside dining available in good weather. They do a great breakfast with lots of choices including omelets.
