2 night stopover North Tyrol, Innsbruck, Cinque Terre or elsewhere?

Hi, I need some help please. The more I research the more confused I become. We have 3 nights in Mittenwald in April next year before travelling to Venice by train. I am thinking maybe of breaking this with a 2 night stop, but where? Interested in Innsbruck as it looks scenic and has the Nordkette cable car/Alpen Zoo option. We want somewhere scenic with natural beauty and will only be using public transport. Any other suggestions in the Bolanzo area or between Innsbruck and Venice. Other 2 night options could be Cinque Terre but the crowds are off putting a bit. Also we could do 2 nights between Florence and Rome. We have not been to any of these places before so I am struggling to make a choice here. It could be a small town in a beautiful setting where we could get into nature, any suggestions would be welcome. Something a bit different to Venice, Florence and Rome which we will be spending time in. Thanks very much.

I would completely rule out a detour to cinque terre - if you have only two days, you would spend most of them traveling.
Almost all the places on the Brenner itinerary could be reasonable choices but keep in mind that do not look really so different from Mittenwald. Innsbruck is very fine (just coming from a 3-weeks stay there), of course somebody will suggest Ortisei (not directly on the Brenner itinerary but a reasonable bus detour). Places that nobody has heard of bout could be seriously considered are in my opinion Bressanone, Vipiteno and Chiusa.
Due to global warming snow will probably not be a big issue in April, but still too early to hike at high altitudes in most alpine places.

Verona. It's beautiful, romantic, historic, not like Mittenwald, and on your route to Venice. For natural beauty there are walks along the river, and a day tour of the hilly Valpolicella wine region just north of the city.

I agree that we should drop thoughts of visiting Cinque Terre as quite a detour to get there. The little towns mentioned look very pretty. I will research them a bit more. I think they look like they are on the main rail link between Innsbruck and Verona which is what I am after. Although I think I should consider Verona too as suggested. Although it is a bigger place than I had in mind it does look very nice too. So many choices... We were travelling Mittenwald to Venice in one day but I think that actually looks a fair way so splitting it may be more enjoyable. Thanks for the suggestions.
