I would love some advice on what to do for 2 days in Parma. I will be there for a work meeting and have 2 days to check out the town before it starts (Monday and Tuesday). I arrive on the Sunday and am going to try and make the Parma Panthers Football game ala Grisham's Playing for Pizza. After that, I am wide open and would prefer to stay local, although I would be open to a very close trip if something was "can't miss" in the vicinity. Unfortunately, Parma is pretty much nowhere to be found in any of the tour books. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
The Michelin Green Guide has a few pages on Parma, including a walking tour taking in the cathedral and baptistery, Church of San Giovanni Evangelista, a 13th-century pharmacy, the Royal Theatre, National Gallery and National Archeological Museum, among many other sights. Check the guidebook or artipr.arti.beniculturali.it website.
I was in Parma during the earthquake a few years ago and most things were closed, so I didn't get to see the church interiors or museums and theaters, but the food was great (home of Parma ham and Parmesan cheese)!
You might want to look at the food tours there. Parma Ham, Parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar from Modena and lots more. Here are some links.

Plus, nearby Bologna has some great restaurants.
Thanks Zoe, George, and Larry!
Sounds like you're on the right track. Buon viaggio!
